Ultrasound Bone Densitometry (REMS)

An innovative, radiation-free solution for assessing bone health at the lumbar spine and femoral neck, using a rapid scan powered by proprietary R.E.M.S. technology. From now on, the prevention, early diagnosis, and monitoring of osteoporosis can be performed directly in medical offices.

Q

Osteoporosis and Bone Health

Osteoporosis is a systemic skeletal disease characterized by low bone mineral density and deterioration of the bone tissue microarchitecture, leading to increased bone fragility, primarily associated with aging. This condition results in a higher risk of fractures (particularly in the vertebrae, femur, wrist, humerus, and ankle) even from minor traumas.

The skeleton develops rapidly during childhood, puberty, and adolescence, reaching its maximum size and bone mineral density around the age of 25. It is therefore evident that suboptimal bone growth in early life is as important as bone mass loss in adulthood. Primary prevention of osteoporosis should focus on childhood, adolescence, and early adulthood, when bone tissue is being formed, and peak bone mass is achieved.

Clinical Applications

Bone health plays a crucial role in maintaining autonomy and preventing skeletal conditions such as osteoporosis, a silent disease that increases bone fragility and fracture risk, particularly in the vertebrae and femur. This condition is influenced by various risk factors, including genetic predisposition, lifestyle choices, and specific health conditions. Therefore, it is essential to monitor bone health from an early age and continuously assess its condition over time.

Menopause

The first ultrasound system that allows access to osteoporosis prevention, early diagnosis, and monitoring through primary healthcare. EchoS can assess bone health no longer in hospitals using X-rays, but with a simple ultrasound performed directly in a pharmacy, a medical office, or even at home.

Diabetes

The ultrasound scan takes just 80 seconds for the spine and 40 seconds for the femur, allowing for accurate prevention, diagnosis, and monitoring of bone health without the limitations of patient positioning or manual image segmentation.

Pregnancy

The examination produces an immediate medical report that includes not only all the common parameters used in the diagnosis of osteoporosis—BMD (g/cm²), T-Score, Z-Score—but also an independent assessment of the internal bone structure, which provides a fragility index and a body composition index.

Nephrology

EchoS also offers a portable version that allows the exam to be performed anywhere by connecting the main unit to a laptop via a simple USB cable. Its portability is ensured by the lightweight design and materials of EchoS, making the device ultra-light and easy to transport.
