Echolight becomes a partner of PRECCO, the consortium born from the collaboration between ESCEO, IOF and the World Health Organization for the prevention of Osteoporosis and fragility fractures, and will be a protagonist at the WCO – IOF – ESCEO 2023 Congress.

On February 23rd, 2023 ESCEO, IOF and the WHO Collaborating Center for Epidemiology of Musculoskeletal Health and Aging at the University of Liège (Belgium) created PRECCO, the Precompetitive Consortium on Osteoporosis and Bone Health. The Consortium was born from the recently signed five-year collaboration between ESCEO and WHO to improve the management of osteoporosis, provide guidelines to the WHO, involving all the organizations and entities that make the patient’s bone health their corporate mission.

This initiative will lay the groundwork for prioritizing osteoporosis and fragility fracture prevention within global health policy.

Among the objectives will be: the collection of data about the prevalence and incidence of osteoporosis and fractures in countries around the world; review of existing fracture prevention actions and questionnaires for assessing fracture risk in older people in community and clinical settings.

Echolight on the occasion of the World Congress of Osteoporosis, Osteoarthritis and Musculoskeletal Diseases (WCO – IOF – ESCEO) 2023 which will be held in Barcelona from May 4 to 7, will support this collaboration as an active partner.

During the WCO – IOF – ESCEO, REMS Technology will be the protagonist of a Breakfast Symposium entitled “Bone status assessment with REMS: an update on fracture risk prediction” led by Prof. G. Guglielmi. The symposium, included in the official programme, will take place on Saturday May 6th at 8.00 CEST at the CCIB Congress Center in Barcelona.

Scientific works on the diagnostic applications of REMS technology in various clinical fields will also be presented.
