Highlight:
This work shows the results of an international multicenter clinical study carried out by some of the most important European clinical centres for the diagnosis and management of osteoporosis. More than 4000 women, with age between 30 and 90 years, have been enrolled for the study and all of them underwent REMS and DXA scan on both the axial sites, femoral neck and lumbar spine. The analysis of the collected data confirms the higher sensitivity and specificity of REMS technology compared to DXA in discriminating between osteoporotic and non-osteoporotic patients; as well as the high diagnostic concordance between the two densitometry methods, being higher than 90% for both the axial sites. Moreover, this study shows the excellent performance of REMS T-Score, compared to DXA T-score, in identifying those patients suffering from previous fractures
